Pedagogic and Artistic Director (Project LIVING MEMORIALS)
Interdisciplinary Artist
Member of the Scientific Council of the memorial La Maison d’Izieu
German artist, based in Berlin (DE) and Lyon (FR) – former lawyer and lecturer at the Berlin University of the Arts.
Artistic practice: experimental “storytelling”, process art: drawings, multimedia installations, participatory artistic performances, poems.
Roman considers art a social catalyst. His work is characterized by a transversal and interdisciplinary approach (art, science, history, philosophy, psychology, anthropology, literature, pedagogy), grounded in an organic relationship between past, present, and future.
Roman develops and leads projects in partnership with universities, research institutes, museums, schools, memorials, psychiatric clinics, foundations, and television production companies (arte.tv). For around ten years, he has been facilitating yearly teacher trainings and workshops for pedagogues and students at universities of teacher education in Switzerland, focusing on his MATRIX method and on “art as a medium for interdisciplinary teaching.”
Topics: sustainable development, ocean conservation, climate change, consumer behavior, biodiversity, migration, history, cultures of remembrance.
In his current projects, Roman explores the topic of urban health in resonance with indigenous knowledge systems and practices (IKSP); see, for example, his expo-conference in New Zealand/Aotearoa.
